 whopee wall

the main slab face

Description of Area:

There are pretty good odds that your first outdoor rope session will be at whopee. It's right in town, super easy to set up a TR, and it has some pretty fun lines that are anywhere from jughauls on one side to slabterific lines on the other. You can even park about 10 feet away from where you will be belaying and toss on some tunes if you want, but try to keep it down a little.

Directions/access to area:

From downtown, head west on 1st st. Go past Mesaba. You will head around a few corners and up over the little hill. Keep going down the hill to the stop sign at the corner of First Street and Piedmont Ave. You are here, have fun!

Crag Map:

This is still a work in progress, but I'm trying to make one google map with all of the local crags pinned on it for easier location finding. These are not GPS pins, just me looking at the map and putting something that's pretty darn close to the actual location. As always with anything that gets you out in nature, a little resourcefulness and an adventurous spirit goes a long ways. Click here and happy hunting!

Mountain Project Beta:

Click here to go to the Mountain Project page for this location. The Duluth Mountain Project pages could use some serious love via better pics, better descriptions, and general updates; so if you feel like helping inform everyone, a little time and effort would be much appreciated!
